Mapei UK Limited, Office Block & Warehouse

We were employed by St Modwen Developments Limited to Design & Build a 5000 sqm Warehouse with associated 500 sqm two storey Office Block. 

The development was designed to provide a new Production and Manufacturing Facility for a major Italian ‘Construction Product Company’, Mapei UK Limited.

Mapei UK Limited rapidly became very successful in the UK and consequently approached A & H Construction to build an additional 6000 sqm Warehouse and Office Extension to accommodate their growth. 

Works commenced with the installation of vibro-piling to receive the building foundations and slab; erection of a steel-framed building shell on concrete pads with strip foundations and an internal two-storey Office Complex,

Internal pre-cast concrete upper floors and stairs were installed, external walls were constructed of a mixture of concrete block and brickwork, flat panel cladding and aluminium curtain walling systems.  The automatic glazed entrance sliding doors were installed, with electrically operated roller shutter doors to the side elevation for the vehicle loading bays.  The internal finishes consisted of stud partitions with plaster finishes, demountable partitioning systems, suspended and plasterboard ceilings, kitchen installations, toilets and ancillary accommodation to office areas.  The installation of all internal mechanical and electrical services, including electrical distribution, voice data, heating and ventilation, plant and equipment, lighting, security, fire protection and lift installation and all decorative finishes and fixings.

External works included all the necessary mechanical and electrical installations, service connections, roadways, pavements, car parking, foul and surface water drainage and landscaping works.

Two Weighbridge’s were installed with housing and a traffic control Gatehouse erected with an ‘entry’ and ‘exit’ system.
