Midland Building Products, Commercial Warehouse, Workshop & Offices

Midland Building Products specialise in three key product areas of standard and bespoke doors, cubicles and kitchen appliances.

The building consisted of a 20,000 square foot cladded steel portal framed Commercial Warehouse and fully fitted Workshop with a two storey Office building attached.

Reinforced concrete pad foundations were formed with a reinforced concrete power float finished ground floor slab.  The first floor consisted of screeded precast concrete planks bearing on a structural steelwork frame with precast concrete staircases.

The external envelope consisted of facing brick dwarf perimeter walls, microrib and built up insulated profiled steel cladding and roofing, with powder coated double glazed external windows and doors.  The inner skin was painted fair faced blockwork two metres high with metal stud internal partition walls, suspended ceilings, all finished in plaster with timber joinery.

All mechanical and electrical installations were carried out to include mechanical ventilation and comfort cooling to the offices and the installation of an eight person hydraulic passenger lift.

Associated external works were carried out including drainage, concrete yards, gravel walkways, gates, barriers and bollards and connections into the existing Midland Building Products Warehouse, along with the overcladding of the external boundary wall.
