Heathfield Foundation Technology College, New Sixth Form Centre, Laboratory and Classrooms
Works consisted of the construction of a new Sixth Form block within the Heathfield Technology College, which provides secondary education through to the Sixth Form for the Cradley Heath area. The structure has a two-storey steel-framed building sitting off a piled foundation solution with a gross internal floor area of 650 square metres. The external envelope consists of brickwork to the first-floor, curtain walling first-floor to roof and a specialist zinc roof; internal finishes consist of under-floor heating. The project was constructed to a high standard. The new Sixth Form block has been built adjacent to the existing Sports Hall, which made for a confined site, together with the challenges of a ‘live school environment’. Construction was completed with the minimum of disruption and all went well and to programme. We had additional instructions for works around the remaining College for asbestos removal, new partitions and fixed furniture. We were particularly delighted by the quality of workmanship and communication, which was excellent and allowed the College to continue to work as normal with very little disruption”. “All the personnel that Heathfield dealt with were particularly accommodating and this helped in the construction of this new building to be completed ahead of time”. “I can highly recommend this particular construction and development organisation”.
