The Elms Day Nursery University of Birmingham, Extension to Existing Day Nursery

The works were located on the Campus of The University of Birmingham and comprised of the following:-

• The erection of a two-storey steel-framed building on concrete foundations to form a new extension to the existing Day Nursery Complex.
• Internal alterations and an infill building were constructed to suit the new design layout. 
• The first floor is reinforced concrete on profiled steel permanent formwork and tensile reinforcement decking. 
• Installation of all internal mechanical and electrical services, to include electrical distribution, heating and ventilation, lighting, security and fire protection.
• All associated decorative finishes and fixings.
• External works including foul and surface water drainage and landscaping works.

The project was completed with the minimum disruption to the day-to-day running of the Day Nursery and was also nominated for an ‘‘As Built Design & Quality Award’ by Birmingham City Council.
