This sleek and impressive facility was built for Cannons Health Club by Developers Richardsons.

The facility is now occupied by the Nuffield Health Group who have been operating for over fifty years taking care of people through its gymnasiums and hospitals in over 200 facilities across the nation.

A & H Construction were awarded this project by Richardsons to construct a two storey building on a Brownfield site adjacent to a river.  A stream flowed directly beneath the footprint of the new building which required diversion prior to commencement of the construction works. 

Due to the poor nature of the ground flight auger piles were installed to provide stable ground conditions from which to construct the building. 

The superstructure consisted of a structural steelwork frame with precast concrete floors and stairs to provide a first floor area to the building. The swimming pool was excavated by ourselves and we appointed a specialist contractor, Buckingham Pools, to carry out the construction of a twenty five metre swimming pool.

The external envelope consisted of facing brickwork two metres high with composite wall cladding up to roof level. The roof was a specialist built up roof cladded system containing roof lights to supplement the curtain walling and windows thus providing a high level of natural light.

Internally, we carried out all finishing works to provide a Crèche, Fitness area, Refreshment area, Sauna, Spa Pool and Steam Room, along with the associated Reception and Office areas from which the Centre is run.

The facility was completed with the construction of a car parking area with associated hard and soft landscaping.
