Unipart ASOS, Logistical Warehouse & Distribution Centre

ASOS, As Seen On Screen were established in June 2000, they have since become one of the UK’s leading market retailers in the on-line fashion and beauty world.

Due to their incredible growth ASOS outgrew their storage and distribution premises in Hemel Hempstead and thus purchased an existing logistics warehouse in Barnsley, which is capable of not only meeting the demands of today, but also for the demands of the future.

Following the completion of several successful projects for Unipart Logistics, we were approached by them, on behalf of ASOS, to carry out the necessary building works to make a logistical warehouse and distribution centre fit for their requirements of occupation.

The construction works were split into two main areas of both warehouse and offices.  Within the warehouse we erected a five storey mezzanine racking system with appropriate passenger lifts to storage areas for clothing and the like, including processing areas and a number of single and two storey offices.

Due to the size of workforce employed by ASOS, we built an extension to the ground floor thereby merging the offices into the warehouse and thus converting the ground floor into locker areas, welfare facilities and the formation of first aid and security rooms.

The first floor was converted into a canteen and rest area.  The second floor offices remained mostly open plan, with the addition of functional demountable partitions to form meeting rooms.

Generally throughout the logistics warehouse we installed mechanical and electrical services, to include electrical distribution, heating and ventilation plant and equipment, lighting, security and lift installation.

Externally, we constructed additional paving areas, cycle and smoking shelters and armco barriers.
