W H Smith, Retail Store

Units L46 and L47 were occupied by separate retailers, following their acquisition by W H Smith, A & H Construction were successfully awarded the Contract to combine, extend and remodel the shopping units, consequently altering the sub-division of the space. 

The works involved the remodelling of the existing units and diverting the fire escape to create a single and combined L46/L47 unit, with the construction of a new two storey steel framed building shell being built to the rear of these reconfigured units. 

On the first floor level we constructed a new mezzanine area for administration and storage facilities to include access and escape stairs with lift structure to support a new lift installation.

The external walls to the extension were mostly brickwork clad with automatic glazed entrance doors and electrically operated rolling shutter doors to the side elevation vehicular loading bays. 

The internal finishes consisted of stud partitions with plaster finishes, demountable partitioning systems, mechanical and electrical installation, kitchen installations, toilets and ancillary accommodation to the office areas.
