Worcester Rugby Football Club, New Player Changing Facilities

Worcester Rugby Football Club carry out their Home Fixtures at the Sixways Stadium located within striking distance of Junction 6 of the M5.  In recent years  the  Rugby Club has become  one of the rising Clubs in the Rugby Football Union, with their progression through the League’s came the need to update their facilities at the Sixways Stadium.

Through a negotiated process we were awarded the Contract to construct new Player Changing facilities at this truly inspirational multi-purpose Stadium.  Work commenced with the erection of a steel portal framed building on concrete pad and strip foundations.  The external envelope consisted of built-up insulated cladding panels for the roof and insulated cavity wall, brickwork and blockwork, insulated cladding and aluminium powder coated doors and windows to the external walls.

The ground floor was constructed as load bearing with a power-floated floor slab incorporating under-floor insulation with ceramic floor tiling or vinyl flooring to designated areas.  Built off the ground floor slab, the internal walls were formed out of blockwork with full height ceramic wall tiles.

Internal finishes consisted of painted plasterboard ceilings throughout, hardwood veneered door-sets, heavy duty furniture, wc cubicles and shower enclosures.  The mechanical system comprised of anti-vandal shower pitting’s, sanitary ware, storage heaters for hot water fed from the central heating system, secondary circulation for hot water, storage tanks for high demand water consumption and central heating via a traditional radiator system fed from gas boilers.  The electrical system comprised of lighting, power, emergency lighting, circuits for fans, cooker supplies and alarm points.

The new changing facilities included a hardcore car park and tarmacadam footpath to the perimeter of the buildings.
